Galloping Cats

Vacation, all I ever wanted. Vacation, had to get away. February 18, 2005

Hi! I’m back. Did you miss me? I’m sorry I didn’t tell you that I was going away, but it didn’t seem like a good idea to tell the whole Internet I’d be going out of town, in case some nut had tracked me and was just waiting for a good opportunity to kidnap Crazy and Hippo.

A and I took three whole days off from work and went skiing. Wednesday was quite possibly the best day of my life: the sun was shining, the weather was gloriously warm, the snow was good, the air was fresh, and we had the mountain to ourselves. It does not get any better than that, especially in Vermont. We had two more days of sunshine after that, but much colder weather. Skiing is the first thing I’ve done in a good long while that I couldn’t have done if I was still pregnant, and that made it extra nice. An advantage to not being pregnant! I can ski!

Also we got annoyed by some kids, and it was nice to remember what horrible brats they can be! We took one gondola ride up with two girls, about ten years old, with their ski instructor. They were being such bitches to him, either answering his friendly questions with one word answers or not at all. They were bitches to each other, too, one telling the other her goggles were ugly, that one telling the first that she was an idiot to put warmers in her boots. A and I thought, maybe we’d prefer to have boys. Then the next ride up, the gondola was filled with pre-teen boys who talked about farting the whole way up and we thought, hmm, what are we trying to do again?

In other news, my body surprised me by producing an LH surge on Wednesday, when it was not expected until sometime between Saturday and Tuesday. The whole point was to go skiing before I ovulated, not during, but whatever. If it’s going to happen this month, it’s going to happen, even if I did spend three days in the cold and exercising vigorously. I mean, if skiing were birth control, we’d have heard about it by now, right? So, guess I’m in the two week wait again. My period is due a week from Monday.

Look at what happens when you relax?!
If you get pregnant from skiing in Vermont I’m gonna kill you! *LOL*

I was wondering what happened to you! I am waiting with you here and hoping this is your (ok, OUR) month . . .

Glad you had a nice vacation, too.

Glad you had fun in spite of the bratty/disgusting pre-teens! (and that no one stole the cats)

So glad you had a nice vacation away and hope all is well and not too terribly sore. Best wishes.

Hey, I think there’s a good chance precisely because it wasn’t what you expected to happen! I love and hate the two week wait. Now I’m going to have to check your blog breathlessly all the time waiting for the news!

Welcome back!!! So glad you had such a good time. I haven’t been skiing in years, and Vermont skiing during the week is pure bliss!

It’s always a nice treat to break away during the week.

Glad you are back though. Lonely in blog land without you.

I left you the Vitex info in the comments over chez moi.
